Pat Avery has sourced a previously unpublished collection to present a wonderful tribute to that period now nearly half a century ago, and at the time shunned by the contemporary enthusiast who still preferred to chase steam. Grouped into 'regions' and their respective lines emanating from the London termini, most of the pioneer diesel classes are shown. Not in later BR blue, but instead in green, maroon, ochre, the first short lived blue livery, as well as the colours worn by some of the rarer one-off machines. Detailed captions compliment the book; certain to find a home amongst the current day enthusiast who yearns for the nostalgia of their childhood.
