Red, Cream and a Touch of Gray: The Western Welsh story

Sometimes, when a popular sell-out book of any genre gives birth to a second edition it is purely an exercise to satisfy the demands of would be buyers. That's not the case with the appearance of a second edition print of Red, Cream and a touch of Gray. Colin Scott has once again produced a publication that turns a mirror on the much loved Western Welsh Omnibus Company Ltd. but in doing so has injected much in the way of fresh facts and photographs.

This new edition, complete with fresh cover to distinguish itself from its predecessor, can lay claim to an additional chapter which draws on the memory of someone with much experience of life inside the company whose operations spread across almost the entire southern half of Wales. This book should not be considered as a simple replacement for that which went before but a companion which will more than earn its keep on the bookshelf of any bus enthusiast.

The book carries a foreword by the doyen of welsh broadcasters, Roy Noble, which sets the tone of how many of its readers remember the halcyon days of public transport in and around South Wales.
