Ffestiniog Railway Carriages 21 and 23 - Double Pack
This is a detailed scale model kit for adult collectors. Not for children under 14 years old.
This model kit is of carriages 21 and 23, as currently running on the Ffestiniog Railway. Carriage 21 is a recently completed replica of on of the Ashbury coaches (original numbers 21 and 22). Carriage 23 was built for the Welsh Highland Railway as a summer car, and was cut down to fit the Ffestiniog Railway. After numerous rebuilds this carriage has been restored into it's original FR condition.
The kit includes three main components - the body side assembly, internal detail and frame, and roof. Carriage 21 also requires the hooped door handles to bit fitted separately. Finally, there is also a raft of detailing brake and electrical connections specific to each vehicle. PECO GR-104 bogies and clear perspex are included with the model. You will need modelling tools (such as a craft knife, cutting board, files and micro-drills) adhesive and paints to assemble the kit.
This is a highly detailed scale kit built using our in house machines, with High Definition resin and build layers just 50 microns (0.05mm) thick. Whilst there is 'stepping' visible on the parts up close, this is not discernible once the kit is painted and/or from usual viewing distances. The parts have their main supports removed, though detailing and structural supports will remain to protect the parts in transit, and require removing prior to assembly. Some polishing and filing of the parts is required to ensure they fit together without a seam.
The carriage includes representation of the interior, with Carriage 21 having hard benches, whilst 23 has cushions. Brake pipes and electrical connectors are also present at the correct ends and sides of the vehicles, as is the apparatus for the passenger emergency brake. Whilst being built to a similar design, the models accurately represent the different thickness of match boarding used on the body sides.
The pack contains both coaches, and the required bogies.
