When the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways was required to expand on the Harbour Station end of the Cob Embankment for the placement of a second platform and run round loop to allow for the newly opened Welsh Highland Railway, new and expanded signalling was required.

Booklet "Building a new Signalling Scheme"
A remarkable and unique account of the re-signalling of the Ffestiniog Railway's Harbour Station told from the view point of a signalling engineer. It illustrates how complex a task even a relatively small railway signalling scheme needs to be. Well illustrated and explained. One small criticism, the layout plan on page 18 could have been reproduced larger, my poor old ancient eyes had difficulty making out the detail.
